Students,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. A year we believe will be exceptional at North Miami Senior High School. This year our theme is “In Unity, Pioneers Forge a Path to Greatness!” We believe there are endless possibilities for success when pioneers stand up, stand strong, and stand together for one common purpose. What does it mean to be a Pioneer? A Pioneer is a trailblazer. A Pioneer is a pathfinder. Pioneers stand up for what is right. Pioneers stand strong on principles. Pioneers stand together to achieve our common goal in the classroom or on the playing field.
You are about to embark on a journey that others have walked and now it is your turn to set new footprints. As you go through the halls and enter the classrooms, your preparation will determine your success. You must transform your thinking in order to excel in your studies. Excellence is a habit that can only be developed through practice. You must read at least 30 minutes per day. You must find the answers to the questions you have. You must practice your writing on a daily basis. The journey that is before you is a path towards excellence. Your relentless pursuit of excellence will lead you to the college of your choice, the vocation of your choosing, and a life of prosperity. I leave you with a poem from Maryanne Williamson, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, [and] fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?” Students we demand excellence, but we will support you in order for you to achieve it.
